MackMikelson 43

"I have always expected a high level of proficiency from everyone I do business with so have never been one to write a glowing letter about a company. There are, however, those rare occasions when I find myself doing business with a very extraordinary company and in this case it was Mikelson Yachts. All my dealings with Mikelson have exceeded all my expectations. The whole experience was superior and I will recommend Mikelson Yachts whenever and wherever I can. I just returned from a 10 day, 1100 mile trip down the Pacific Coast of Baja. There were six of us on board and due to the Mikelson design with the huge bridge and wide cabins we were always comfortable. This has not been my experience on other 43 footers. The following is from a letter written by Jerry Taylor, a very well know east and west coast delivery skipper who has literally hundreds of long deliveries on every kind of boat, big and small. This was after delivering the Mikelson 59 Nomad from Cabo to San Diego, which is usually pretty tough. "The Nomad holds 2010 gallons of diesel and 350 gallons of water. She features a real standup engine room and is chock full of happy surprises providing total safety, privacy and comfort for everyone lucky enough to be on board. All systems, plumbing, electrical and mechanical seem massive and built to the highest standards. In 35 years of dedicated yacht delivery and 200,000 sea miles, this is the finest production power boat we've ever been associated with. I don't know how Mikelson can offer such a complete package at such a competitive price. More people should know about this great boat."

Max & Valerie Mikelson 61 "Max'd Out"

"My wife and I have owned Nomad #3 for about a month. We have had it out in a very rough seas and in calm seas. We are excited to be able to say that in every aspect it has exceeded our expectations. The day we took delivery we traveled 80 miles into the rough seas at 15 knots in order to reach Catalina before dark. The boat handled the seas with no effort. When we arrived at Avalon they told us that we were the only boat that made it through from San Diego that day. We are comfortably able to handle the boat by ourselves. With the wing stations, docking and departing from the dock is a pleasure. The workmanship both inside and outside the boat is excellent. Everywhere we go people tell us how beautiful the boat is. We give Mikelson and the Nomad our highest recommendation."

"I have just completed my first year in my 61' Pilothouse, to say I am more than satisfied is an understatement. Oh, what a fishing machine! We had one day with 2 anglers who had never caught a marlin. They intentionally released 5 striped Marlin 120-160 lbs. and accidentally broker off 4 others, all in one 8 hour period. Upon completion of our trip, Scottie told Capt. Paul, 'Mikelson is a great boat, but you know what is the best part? It's the people. I have been here twice with Bill during commissioning and now, and you guys are great.'"

I was in awe when my eyes saw my boat for the first time. I was able to see and feel the design come to life. This only happens if you can get the cooperation that Mikelson offers and I thank every one that worked with me, and that is the whole staff."

John Mikelson 43 "Island Girl"

"The bridge/helm station on the Mikelson is as well organized as the cockpit of my 767. Every switch and instrument display on the Mikelson is highly visible and easily accessible. The engine instruments are right in front of your eyes where they belong and the radar and GPS to the right where they are easily seen and reached. An additional bonus is that almost everything can be seen from the second helm station at the rear of the bridge. My hat is off to you and Tom Fexas. I've looked at hundreds of boats in the last few years and I know quality when I see it. I don't think I've ever encountered this kind of quality and value so skillfully executed, especially in a boat so perfectly designed for two purposes, sportfishing and cruising."

"When my wife and I first ordered the boat, a year's wait seemed like a long time. But the experience of selecting the engines, selecting all the fabrics inside the boat, configuring the salon to our liking, and selecting the electronics for the Flybridge filled the year. Another bonus of the year of planning was working with the Mikelson people. We found each and every one to be a joy to work with. Each was knowledgeable in his own area of expertise and fun to work with. I read in "Sea magazine an article that talked about a ·"revolution in design", putting the engine room under the cockpit instead of the salon. Since the engine room in my Trojan 11 meter is under the salon I could immediately relate the advantages of the new design; no noise under the salon, guests need not be disrupted for engine room checks, and best of all I could stand up straight while working in the engine room and have full daylight so that I could see. Thanks again to Mikelson and Tom Fexas for an outstanding job!"
